It is a defeat for the Blairites inflicted in part by the trade union movement. In that sense, though I have no illusions in Ed Miliband, I take pleasure in this setback for the most right-wing sector of the Labour leadership. I don't see Ed Miliband as a strong or durable leader of social democracy but this result will open up a space for the Left in Labour to get organised and fight the cuts. Good.
