Bizarre posted by Richard Seymour
I haven't got time for this, really, but this is Justin Raimondo writing in Antiwar.com today:The Wilsonians are self-styled “idealists” who believe the mission of the US is to spread democracy and enforce the concept of “self-determination” (the neoconservatives are a good example, although this messianism also exists on the ostensible left).
Did you see what he did there? My argument against the idea that US imperialism has a unique vocation of spreading self-determination (a contradiction in terms if you take the concept seriously) has been cited as an example of the opposite. I can only assume that Raimondo is as sloppy in his reading of me as he is in his reading of the neoconservatives (those messianic Trotskyites!).
