Resisting the cuts posted by Richard Seymour
Today's Guardian reported that universities were preparing thousands of job losses in anticipation of deep government spending cuts. Today, students at the University of Sussex began a fightback against cuts at their campuses by staging an occupation. This is part of an ongoing campaign of student agitation against the current university management's policies of compulsory redundancies and termination of contracts. You may recall that students at this university also occupied during the attack on Gaza. UCU and Unite unions are already balloting for strike action, so you may see both students and lecturers on the picket lines soon.Labels: capitalism, neoliberalism, new labour, public spending, spending cuts, universities
