Vestas workers occupy posted by Richard Seymour
You may have been hearing of the Vestas workers' campaign. More than 500 workers were to be sacked from the wind turbine plant in the Isle of Wight, which is threatened with closure. It happens to be one of the few 'green' industries in the UK, and would be the sort of thing the government should be investing in as part of a 'green New Deal', as opposed to artificially expanding polluting industries. The news has just come through that the workers have decided to occupy the plant. I'll supply further links and updates as soon as they're available.Update: contact information and protest details here.
