Alternative G20 Summit posted by Richard Seymour
It had been rumoured that the Alternative G20 Summit taking place at the University of East London's Docklands campus from 4pm tomorrow was going to be scrapped, continuing the university's heavy-handed response to some remarks made by Professor Chris Knight in the media. If you look at the list of those who were scheduled to speak, you can see this was/is going to be a major event in the protest diary, and it has even been advertised in the papers and discussed on television. This petition appears to confirm that the decision was taken some days ago on "security" grounds, and demands that university management rescind their decision. I would encourage readers to sign it. As a matter of fact, I would encourage you to turn up at the alloted time and place anyway.ps: Just seen this excellent video of Mark Thomas at the protest on Saturday (via Socialist Worker):
