America's role posted by Richard Seymour
Just a quick update on the previous post. You recall that I said:One can only imagine that the pro-US Georgian leadership, which has ambitions to join NATO, had some sort of assent from Washington before acting in this way. After all, if it truly intends to withdraw 1,000 of its troops from Iraq to attack the South Ossetian independence movement, I would expect they had to ask Bush nicely first.
Well, it seems I was being too optimistic, in a manner of speaking. The Bush administration not only gave its permission, but is transporting Georgian troops from Iraq for the purpose. Just thought that was worth mentioning.
